Operating Models

Client Research

The NCERC is available to do custom bioprocessing of any feedstock to any process material, feed material or fuel ethanol in our pilot plant and/or research laboratory. This work is done under a confidentiality agreement and research agreement in which the Client pays for the operational costs of the work.

Fees depend on the scale, scope and whether or not other Client work can be done in conjunction or in parallel. Various fee models are available: the Center will assist the Client with information they need to pursue grant funding, put the Client in touch with potential funding sources, and work with the Client to conduct the work on a fee or ownership basis.

The Client has the option of working alongside the NCERC staff. Feedstock process materials generated during plant baseline operations are also available and additional laboratory characterization can be provided.

Client Showcase

The NCERC offers an ideal facility for pilot testing unit operational or sensor and control technology that your company has developed to improve the facility. Operating pilot scale models of your unit operations at the NCERC provides you with a “walking trade show” to show your technology to your potential customers.

NCERC Led Research

The NCERC coordinates efforts to conduct laboratory or plant trials in areas of unmet need on behalf of the industry. The NCERC will participate in or lead efforts to organize the collaboration, secure funding, and conduct the laboratory or plant validation trials.

NCERC Training

The NCERC offers the bioprocessing industry hands on training opportunities for laboratory or plant processing or maintenance staff. Three month to one year internships are available.
