Identifying Plant Parameters that Influence the Composition of Distillers’ Dried Grain with Solubles (DDGS)
DDGS is a growing and important co-product of the dry grind fuel ethanol production process. As dry grind fuel ethanol production continues to grow, retaining and securing new markets for DDGS is critical to sustainable and economical fuel ethanol production.

Utilizing the predictive modeling expertise Washington University, the hardware, software and sensors of Emerson Process Management and funds provided by Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the State Technologies Advancement Cooperative, the NCERC is conducting plant trials, varying operating parameters to determine the impact of process inputs and process plant parameters on the composition of the animal feed co-product.
Ultimately, knowing the composition of the starting corn and the process parameters used or indicated, feed with a define composition will be produced. This trial is ongoing.
