<h2 align="left">The Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.)</h2>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">The SIUE School of Pharmacy offers the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, also known as the Pharm.D.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>In order to begin this program, students must complete at least two years of pre-pharmacy curriculum as outlined in the <a href="/id0904f67a8020f485">pre-pharmacy curriculum</a>. The professional program at SIUE is four years in length. It includes three years of study on the Edwardsville, Illinois campus and one full year of experiential education at a clinical site in the region.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> <br /></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The SIUE School of Pharmacy was granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in June 2009. ACPE authorized the following statement:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">The SIUE School of Pharmacy prepares pharmacists who can serve the health care needs of the citizens of Illinois and its surrounding region.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The School provides a contemporary and innovative Pharmacy education utilizing state-of-the-art technology and new modern classrooms. The curriculum provides for interprofessional education, integrated and team-based learning, experiential education throughout the four years, and preparation for contemporary roles including health promotion, prevention and wellness.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>There is the opportunity to pursue a concentration of study for some of the didactic electives and for an advanced practice experiential elective.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The hallmark of the program at SIUE is the focus on “Excellence.” Highly qualified students and competent and dedicated faculty are attributes of our program.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The culture of SIUE is one of a community of learners, teachers and scholars.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">The combination of scientific and technical emphasis of our program ensures that our graduates are prepared for highly-competitive pharmacy careers. Students complete a Senior Assignment that serves as an integrative capstone learning experience.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The SIUE Senior Assignment has been recognized by the <a href="http://www.siue.edu/news/bestCollege.shtml">US News and World Report</a> for its excellence. The School also prepares students for cultural competency and openness to diversity.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>This outcome is accomplished through the didactic curriculum and the experiential education.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Numerous didactic and experiential education electives are also offered. Students develop citizenship and leadership skills as part of the co-curricular organizational opportunities.</span></p>
