Message from the Dean

The SIUE School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the gold standard for baccalaureate and graduate degree nursing programs. The Certified Nurse Anesthesia Program is also fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

When students are admitted to the SON they are assigned an academic advisor and a nursing faculty mentor. The advisors assist the students navigate the university course registration process or make adjustments to their programs of study as needed. The faculty mentors are the guides assisting the students inculcate the traits that become the foundation for the art and science of nursing. This is further evidence that the SIUE Nursing School is dedicated to assuring that students are successful!

*The School of Nursing functions under a shared governance model.  The governance body is made up of the faculty membership in the Faculty Council chaired by an elected faculty member and through the work of the standing committees, task forces and ad hoc committees of the School.  Students are also organized in a shared governance model with elected officers for each grade level.  The student leadership meets monthly with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Alternative Programs to identify the needs of the students.

*The School of Nursing is comprised of 61 full-time faculty, 14 part-time faculty, and 19 staff members.
