Rhys Fuller, a graduate student in Biology, and Dr. Larry LaFond, an Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature are the winners of the Lovejoy Library web site survey contest. Fuller and LaFond each received an Apple IPOD mini. The two were selected at random from over 350 respondents to the Lovejoy Library web site survey.

The library premiered its new website on February 1, 2005. The online web site survey ran from February 1-10. The survey asked respondents to identify what they were looking for on the web site and how easy it was to find. Most respondents commented they readily located what they needed. Over 90% of the respondents concurred the website is easy to use. Some of the comments described the site as; “user-friendly,” “information is more easily accessible,” and “well-organized.”

The survey revealed that most patrons use the web site for locating books, journal articles, reserves, research guides, and library hours. Most respondents liked the new design and layout of the web site. Many commented favorably on the quick links, easy navigation, and ready access to full-text resources. Suggestions for improvement included; the addition of tutorial pages, access to more full-text resources, and developing more help and research guides.

In an online comment, Rhys Fuller noted, “I have used library websites at other universities and I can honestly say the Library’s website is the most organized and easily navigated resource that I have ever used.” Dr. Larry LaFond commented, “I have been very pleased with the redesign of the Lovejoy Library home page. I especially liked that the new site’s home page contains a frame of quick links that permit immediate access to my library account, electronic journals, and our library catalog.”
