Vision, Mission, and Goals

Vision

Library and Information Services (LIS) is Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s principal gateway to information resources and academic services that promote information literacy, lifelong learning and the transmission of knowledge.

Mission

LIS supports the mission of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) by providing access to and assistance in using information resources and academic services in support of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service activities.

Goals

The mission of LIS is accomplished through achieving the following goals:

• Select, acquire, manage, share and preserve information resources to support University programs and services

• Provide expert faculty and staff to assist users in developing or improving information literacy skills, including the identification, location, access, use, evaluation and creation of information resources in a variety of formats and from diverse sources

• Provide and manage facilities to appropriately house resources, services, equipment, staff and users

• Provide and manage facilities, services, technology and expertise to assist in the development, access, and use of instructional technologies.
