<h2>Food and Drink Policy</h2>

<p class="bodytext">Effective Fall Semester 2004</p>
<p class="bodytext">This Food and Drink Policy is an effort by Library and Information Services to maintain its facilities, collections, equipment and furnishings in the best possible condition for all users. By promoting responsible behavior, the policy attempts to achieve a balance between our users' social needs and our responsibility to protect LIS resources.</p>
<p class="bodysubtitle"><strong>DRINK</strong></p>
<p class="bodytext">Non-alcoholic beverages in spill-resistant containers are permitted. Those in open containers should be consumed in areas set aside for this purpose, such as the Library's vending area.</p>
<p class="bodysubtitle"><strong>FOOD</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The delivery of food to the library and the acceptance of food deliveries within the library for library users IS NOT PERMITTED.</li>
</ul>
<p class="bodytext">Snacks that can be consumed without causing damage to resources or distractions to others may be consumed in all areas <strong>except</strong> those specified below: </p>
<ul>
<li> Near printers, photocopiers, scanner and microform equipment.</li>
<li> In the Library's book stacks.</li>
<li> In Special Collections areas, including the Music Listening Room and University Archives</li>
<li> In areas posted as "NO FOOD OR DRINK"</li>
</ul>
<p class="bodytext"><strong><span class="bodysubtitle">THANKS</span> -</strong> for helping make our service areas more inviting by also accepting responsibility for:</p>
<ul>
<li><em class="bodytext"> </em> Removing or discarding containers and trash when finished.</li>
<li> Reporting any spills that may occur to LIS staff so they can be cleaned immediately <em>.</em></li>
