Fellowships & Grants


Competitive Graduate Award (CGA)

CGAs are available to support highly qualified new graduate students, including students from underrepresented groups, who are accpeted into advanced degree programs at SIUE. There are about 19 CGA awards for the nine-month academic year 2010-2011. The awards include a $930 monthly stipend and a tuition waiver. For more details, check out the CGA website.

Graduate Scholar Awards (GSA)

Graduate Scholar Awards are available for eligible students from underrepresented groups who are nominated by their academic unit. You can apply for an award if you qualified to be a recipient, but you also will need to receive a nomination. To learn more about this award, check out the GSA website.

Outstanding TA Award

The Outstanding TA (Teaching Graduate Assistant) Award is designed to recognize and reward Graduate Assistants for outstanding performance in teaching and instruction. To learn more, see the information on the Outstanding TA Award website.

Outstanding Thesis Award

One $500 cash award is given each year for the Outstanding Thesis Award. If you are a graduate student with a thesis that is recognized as outstanding by the Graduate School, you might achieve this prestigious award. The Outstanding Thesis Award recipient's thesis is forwarded by the University to the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Distinguished Master's Thesis Award competition. Research Grants

Are you a competitive graduate student searcing for ways to fund research that you are initiating and conducting? A Research Grant for Graduate Students (RGGS) might be available for you. RGGS are small grants that help enhance the academic progress of students involved in research. Faculty advisors oversee the research, particularly as it relates to your thesis or final project. Travel Grants

Travel Grants through the Graduate Student Travel Support Program help make travel for major paper presentations, and eligible exhibits and performances, possible.
