<h2>Athletics</h2>
<p><a href="http://www.siue.edu/ATHLETIC/">Athletics</a> play a major role in our University, even for those students who aren’t athletes. A strong program increases opportunities and general awareness of SIUE, which can aid in student recruitment. Athletic events also draw spectators to SIUE who otherwise aren't connected to the University. As the public's awareness of SIUE increases, it helps the University meet its goals in other areas. </p>
<p>Athletics' impact goes beyond the field, court and stadium, reaching into the classroom where many student athletes excel. At SIUE, the development of the whole student-athlete (academically, athletically, and personally) is stressed. Donors help strengthen the program and this emphasis on the student athlete by funding scholarships and awards.</p>
<p>Contributions have also helped provide updated, improved and new athletic facilities which play a major role in attracting top student-athletes to SIUE and influencing its reputation in the region.</p>
