Meridian Award Requirements
- Complete the Meridian Award Application/Proposal form and all components in order to be considered.
- Use either Arial or Times New Roman type style in 12 pt font size on all documents submitted.
- Two letters of support are required. One letter should be from the community partner receiving the benefit of the award to the SIUE program, organization, school, College or major unit.
- Project Timeline - Project should begin by May 30, 2010 and be completed by June 1, 2011.
- Mid-term review summary must be sent by January 15, 2011 to Meridian Awards c/o SIUE Foundation, Campus Box 1082. Photos, funds spent, description and dates of activities and progress towards meeting objectives should be included in the mid-term report.
- Submit end of project summary (similar to mid-term review) by June 1, 2011. By request, project period may be extended 3 months to September 1, 2011. This summary must include project outcome and goals achieved, as well as a listing of all activities/events and an itemized report of project expenses.
Evaluation Process
The Meridian Awards Committee and Review Panel of evaluators will read each proposal. The Award Application will be evaluated as follows:
- Only complete applications with all required attachments that are received by Monday, March 1, 2010 will be reviewed.
- The application benchmarks will be judged as they relate to:
- SIUE Goal 5: Active Community Engagement – Achieve an integral and indispensable relationship with Illinois and the St. Louis metropolitan area; work cooperatively within SIU to make the whole greater than the parts.
SIUE Goal 7: Excellent Reputation – Participate and excel in actions that earn national recognition for quality. - The feasibility of the application’s budget and timeline.
- The need for the project and if the project assures long term benefits.
- Letters of support including confirmation of participation from the community organization(s) which will benefit from the project.
- Presentation of Proposal to the Meridian Award Evaluators (no more than a 15 minute presentation).
