Overview

The NCERC analytical, fermentation and microbiology laboratories can provide investigational work for all steps of the feedstock-to-ethanol process and byproducts, and can be used as a source for method development, method validation, investigative research, sample analysis or pilot plant support.

The laboratories operate in a “Good Laboratory Practices – like” mode to provide assurances that data generated is accurate and precise. University students assist the laboratory managers in much of their work providing valuable training for students and affordable analysis for clients. DOE-Fusion software is used for factorial or fractional-factorial designed experiments.

Laboratory Instrumentation

The laboratory is equipped with standard laboratory support equipment and supplies in addition to the following specific instrumentation.

Laboratory Methods

The instrumentation and analytical methods used provide data on the state of components and processed materials through all phases of the process.
