Pilot Plant

pilot plant

The Pilot Plant at the NCERC provides:

  • The capability and flexibility of operating with a variety of production processes and feedstocks.
  • Industrial demonstration research.
  • A hands-on applied training center for personnel in the ethanol and biofuels industry.

Design, development and redevelopment costs represent a tremendous investment for today’s renewable fuel producers. Knowing precisely how final design and/or processes will perform and obtaining that knowledge through scale-up operations conducted in the NCERC's ethanol pilot plant can make a significant difference in any company's success.

The Center has a modern 24,000 square-foot, 1/250th scale ethanol production facility managed with the latest in system technology. The pilot plant operates at a 100-400 bushel per day capacity and offers continuous or batch run operation. It also offers continual and historical-run data to analyze processes, technology and/or design.

The pilot plant comes with an experienced team of engineers and lead operators who are veterans in the industry and can offer additional input to help increase return on investment when it comes to design and processing technology.
