<body>&lt;h2&gt;What are the advantages of this program?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;This program is a content-specific Master&amp;rsquo;s degree with a balance between math related pedagogy and math content courses.&amp;nbsp; It is designed to improve the teaching and student learning of mathematics at the secondary school level.&amp;nbsp; This program aligns with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for Adolescence and Young Adulthood/ Mathematics.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;Who will be considered for admission in this program?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;Current teachers who have earned a Bachelor&amp;rsquo;s degree in Mathematics or its equivalent and are currently teaching Mathematics in a high needs district will be considered for admission to the program.&amp;nbsp; In addition, candidates must meet the requirements for admission to the Masters in Secondary Education.&amp;nbsp; Current admission criteria may be found at the following website: &lt;a href="http://www.siue.edu/graduate/catalog/ch1/admission_policies.shtml" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.siue.edu/graduate/catalog/ch1/admission_policies.shtml&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;h2&gt;Can I complete this program if I do not have a Bachelor&amp;rsquo;s in Mathematics but I have a high school mathematics endorsement?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;It would depend upon a transcript evaluation by the Mathematics department.&amp;nbsp; It is assumed that students will have the knowledge and experience of many upper level mathematics courses in order to succeed in the Mathematics content courses within this program.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;How long will it take to complete?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;The 36 credit hour program will take 3 years to complete.&amp;nbsp; Participants will take one course (3 credits) each Fall and Spring semester and three courses (7 credits) in the summers.&amp;nbsp; Students starting the program Spring 2009 will complete the program by the end of Summer 2011.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;What are the costs?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;This program is contingent upon grant funding.&amp;nbsp; If the grant is fully funded as expected, SIUE will waive tuition for the classes required for this program and the grant will cover all associated course fees and books.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;Are there any requirements from my school or district for me to participate?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, your school and district administration must approve your participation in this program by completing the &lt;a href="/id0904f67a80569a65" target="_blank"&gt;District Agreement Form&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Teams from schools not meeting AYP are encouraged to apply.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2&gt;How do I get more information?&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;We will be hosting an informational meeting on Friday, June 6, 10:00 am at the Madison County ROE School Improvement Services Office, 200 Clay Street, Edwardsville, IL 62025.&amp;nbsp; If you are interested in participating, please return the &lt;a href="/id0904f67a80569a66" target="_blank"&gt;Participant&amp;nbsp;Information Form&lt;/a&gt; by June 4th (FAX: 618-650-5468 or &lt;a href="mailto:gfricke@siue.edu" target="_blank"&gt;gfricke@siue.edu&lt;/a&gt;).&amp;nbsp; Enrollment is limited!&lt;/p&gt;</body>
