Admissions Requirements

To be considered for entrance, students must:

  • pass Illinois Basic Skills Test (#300) within 5 attempts. For testing schedule and registration, see www.icts.nesinc.com.
  • complete CI 200 Introduction to Education (“C” or above & professor recommendation)
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • pass all General Education courses with “C” or above
  • complete 42 semester hours of course work
  • submit formal application and autobiography

The General Education program at SIUE (except for the Interdisciplinary Studies Course) may be satisfied by completing an AA/AS Degree from participating IAI schools (www.iai.edu), or by appropriate transfer coursework or by completing courses at SIUE.
 

GPA and Grade Requirements

Students must have a 2.5 GPA cumulative at all institutions attended, 2.5 GPA at SIUE, and 3.0 in Professional Education Courses. Individual grades of C or better are required for each Professional Education course and for each Kinesioogy course.

124 Hours Required for graduation
60 Hours required from 4-year institutions
30 Hours must be completed at SIUE

Exit Requirements

Courses must be repeated if minimum grade expectations are not met. If pursuing the major with teacher certification, students must complete student teaching and all other requirements pertaining to eligibility for secondary or k–12 teacher certification, including content area test in Physical Ed K-12 (test #144) and the Assessment of Professional Teaching Special K-12 (test #104). All students must complete the senior assignment as a part of the course requirements in KIN 455 or KIN 464.
