<h2>Defining Excellence in the School of Education</h2><img height="265" border="0" width="432" alt="defining excellence" src="/id0904f67a805e54a1" align="right" />Since the establishment of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the institution has placed a priority on fostering tomorrow’s educational leaders. In 1960, soon after SIUE’s inception, education was named one of the six original “divisions.” With more than 24,000 alumni, the School of Education is dedicated to fulfilling human potential in our region by providing educational excellence. <br /><br />School of Education graduates teach in nearly every district in Illinois, in every state in the nation and in many countries around the world. Not only is the School committed to fostering tomorrow’s educational leaders, the School is also committed to preparing professionals in a multitude of fields: sports management, community recreation, clinical psychology, instructional technology and speech-language pathology and audiology. The SIUE School of Education is distinctive in its combination of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare individuals for a wide range of careers.<br /><br />The School is also committed to forming partnerships with a variety of educational, service and business entities in order to advance research and innovative practices across a broad spectrum of professions and community organizations. Faculty members not only perform research in schools throughout the region, they are also actively engaged with P-12 educators to establish effective curricula and teaching methods. The School is committed to providing current research to practitioners, thus benefiting students and teachers in substantial ways.
