Toluca, Mexico - with a population of 500,000 - is located 40 miles south of Mexico City. Toluca, a settlement since the 13th century, was founded as a city in the 16th century and is now a thriving commercial and manufacturing center encircled by volcanic mountains. The city has a cool climate year round. It is rich in history, culture and art, and is surrounded by unique and interesting villages. Toluca has been the Capital of the State of Mexico since 1830.
Participation in this exchange program is limited. SIUE may send 4 students per academic year to Campus Toluca, or 2 students per semester. Click here to view the requirements for the study abroad program.
