<body>&lt;h2&gt;Mark Millikin&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;h3&gt;&lt;img height="168" border="3" width="130" alt="Mark Millikin, CMIS Student" src="/id0904f67a8055d938" align="right" /&gt;CMIS Student, Senior&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"&gt;What do you think is the biggest misconception about CMIS?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline"&gt;Mark&lt;/span&gt;:&amp;nbsp; A big misconception with the CMIS degree is what we do.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; A lot of people think we sit at a computer all day entering numbers into Microsoft Excel or Word.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; A CMIS major has to be able to communicate and meet with co-workers, managers, and other end users effectively so that the desired outcome of a project is achieved.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="quoted2"&gt;&lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal"&gt;Do you think you will use the concepts you are learning in your classes for your job in the business world?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline"&gt;Mark&lt;/span&gt;:&amp;nbsp; &lt;span class="quoted2"&gt;Through my internship experiences I can guarantee that the classes necessary to achieve a CMIS degree do not go to waste.&amp;nbsp; I have used pieces of every class to perform the duties that were asked of me during my internships.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; My first internship was at The ROHO Group and I did a second internship at Anheuser-Busch.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"&gt;Within the CMIS program, have the required business classes (economics, finance, marketing&amp;hellip;etc) been of benefit?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline"&gt;Mark&lt;/span&gt;:&amp;nbsp; The business classes required by the School of Business are very beneficial.&amp;nbsp; Instead of just receiving a computer degree, I also have knowledge of other business related subjects.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Understanding what is going on around me in other departments helps me on the job.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; For instance, if I am working on a project that involves the Accounting and Marketing departments, I have an understanding of their needs and can communicate effectively with them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"&gt;What makes the CMIS degree more attractive than other degrees?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline"&gt;Mark&lt;/span&gt;:&amp;nbsp; The demand for business analysts and developers is on the rise and is a necessity for a company to have.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; Also, the jobs that CMIS majors receive have room for advancement, so one does not have to be locked into a specific job forever.&amp;nbsp; The money is good too!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;em style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"&gt;What type of job do you plan on getting with your CMIS degree?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline"&gt;Mark&lt;/span&gt;:&amp;nbsp; I actually just received a full-time job with AT&amp;amp;T in St. Louis that I will start when I graduate in May.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt; I will be an application developer using skills that I learned from the CMIS Java programming course.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;!--EndFragment--&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</body>
