<h2>Kristin Martin</h2><h3><img height="210" border="3" width="150" alt="Kristin Martin, CMIS Student" src="/id0904f67a8055d91b" align="right" />CMIS Student, Senior</h3><p></p><p><em>What do you think is the biggest misconception about CMIS?</em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: I think a lot of students are intimidated by CMIS. They think it is a hard major, but the instructors make us well prepared for the job market.</p><p><em>What has been your favorite CMIS class so far?</em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: Analysis & Design and Database Design have been the most intriguing to me. These classes teach us how to think in relation to business objectives. Such classes help us learn how to determine what businesses need and how to make operations easier. The instructors honestly want their students to understand the class material and what is going on in the work force.</p><p><em>What do you enjoy the most about being a CMIS major at SIUE?</em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: Being able to work side by side with my classmates. Every CMIS student is unique in his or her talents. We all have something to bring to the table.</p><p><em>Have you participated or plan on participating in an internship?</em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: I have an internship with Lockheed Martin this summer. I will be working in their P3I department on their global transport network database. </p><p><em>Do you feel confident that you will get a job after you graduate? </em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: Yes, I feel confident I will get a job after graduation because the CMIS Department has opened up many contacts for us students in the CMIS program. </p><p><em>What advice would you give to an incoming freshman or high school student about why they should choose CMIS over other majors?</em></p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Kristin</span>: I would tell all incoming students that CMIS is a good major because you learn everything you need to know here at SIUE. The professors are always teaching the most contemporary material to prepare students for the job market. There are a lot of jobs available for CMIS majors, and SIUE is a favorite place for a lot of companies to recruit.</p><p></p>
