Smart Classrooms

  • Access to state-of-the-art technology is critical for today’s students, who have grown up with computers, video games, digital technology, and high speed Internet.
  • Technology is an integral component of how current and future students learn.
  • Cutting edge technology is crucial if SIUE is to effectively prepare students to be successful in the workforce.
  • The College has made a financial commitment to convert classrooms to Smart Classrooms, but limited state dollars mean that only a few rooms can be renovated each year. There still is a long waiting list of CAS departments wanting and needing Smart Classroom technology to better serve their students and allow faculty to use the most advanced teaching techniques.

Providing hardware, software, computer console, sound-proofing, and lighting installation for one Smart Classroom requires an investment of $25,000.
