<h2>Building Plans</h2>
<p align="justify">A major renovation and expansion of the science building is under way. The objectives are to resolve the health, safety and efficiency problems of a 35-year-old building, to alleviate crowding in labs and offices, to provide more classrooms, and to modernize all building systems and services.</p>
<p align="justify">"Friendly spaces" for student/student and student/faculty interaction have been included throughout.</p>
<p align="justify">The major features are:</p>
<ul type="square">
<li>
<p align="justify">new labs, department offices and faculty offices on the south of the lab wing;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p align="justify">a new set of mid-size classrooms south of the auditorium tower;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p align="justify">replacement of the upper auditorium with two floors of classrooms extending to the outside walls;</p>
</li>
<li>
<p align="justify">replacement of lobby entrances with two atrium spaces — one expanding further north toward Dunham Hall, the other connecting the new classrooms and offices to the south; and</p>
</li>
<li>
<p align="justify">a complete renovation of the lab wing and office tower.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">Because it is not feasible to repair HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, etc., while using the building, the work will be done in two stages.</p>
