<body>&lt;h2&gt;2007 Second Annual SIUEeDAY Success!&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;h2&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;Southern Illinois University Edwardsville recently held its second annual SIUeDAY community and faculty/staff fundraising initiative which raised gifts and pledges of over $137,000!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The SIUeDAY faculty/staff effort kicked off on September 6th and raised $123,869.38 in gifts and pledges.&amp;nbsp; This amount is expected to grow as gifts continue to be made.&amp;nbsp; The effort had a 14% increase in current payroll deduction participants as well as a 17.7% estimated increase in payroll deduction.&amp;nbsp; Overall, a 14% increase in the amount of gifts and pledges was receive in the same time period from FY07 to FY08.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The year's SIUeDAY local business effort started with a kick-off breakfast on October 11th which was attended by 125 people.&amp;nbsp; Each participant was given three Ed/Glen Chamber of Commerce members to visit that day and collect donation packets.&amp;nbsp; A celebration reception was held the same evening where over $14,000 was collected.&amp;nbsp; Last year's community effort collected $3,875.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;SIUeDAY helps promote the realization of how SIUE students, faculty and staff make a difference to business owners when they begin buzzing among the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon community each fall.&amp;nbsp; The day will also incorporate a campus component that allows for faculty and staff to give back to the University by showing others that they believe in what they do for SIUE.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Please call Julie Babington at 618-650-2378 for more information or to find out how your organization/business can be involved in the next SIUeDAY.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The second annual SIUeDAY campaign was supported by: &lt;a href="http://www.edglenchamber.com/" target="_blank"&gt;The Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce&lt;/a&gt;, Bruce Coury and the &lt;a href="http://www.goedwardsville.com/site/news.asp?brd=2291" target="_blank"&gt;Edwardsville &lt;em&gt;Intelligencer&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;, Karol Hatton and &lt;a href="http://www.gccuisine.com/" target="_blank"&gt;Crystal Garden Banquet &amp;amp; Event Center&lt;/a&gt;, and &lt;a href="http://www.andersonhospital.org/" target="_blank"&gt;Anderson Hospital&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;</body>
