Following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother, my SIUE journey was destiny...I am the third generation in my family to graduate from SIUE. Graduating in 1998 with my Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication started my career path to Special Events Production. I have been working in the Events field for over 11 years and love every minute of it. I currently am the Director of Special Events & Communications for the USO of Missouri, Inc. serving the state of Missouri and Southern Illinois. We help boost the morale of our local U.S. Armed Forces and their families by providing "A Home A Way From Home" at our USO facilities and producing family events that are all free of charge for military members and their dependents. I LOVE what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.
I came back to SIUE to get my Master's Degree and got more than that...I met and married my husband Adam Colvin (SIUE BA'02 & MA'04) while finishing my Master's work. So as they say I may have come back for my MA but instead got my MRS! Watching the campus grow, seeing the first ever dorms built while finishing my Bachelor's Degree and returning to campus 5 years later to do my Master's work at SIUE...the changes were astonishing! I was thrilled when approached to help with the 2009 Alumni Homecoming Committee to help with the events and planning. It is once again great to do what I love and give back to an organization that gave me what I am most grateful for today...a great start to my professional life!
