After graduating from SIUE in May of 2007, I joined the ranks of the working and began teaching English at O'Fallon Township High School. I'm happy to say that my four years as a student in both the English and Education Departments at SIUE prepared me well for the (sometimes frightening) task of teaching America's youth. :) During my time at "The Big E" (thank you, Chancellor Vandegrift), I witnessed this university continue its transformation into a major competitor in both the St. Louis Region and our nation as a whole, and my sense of pride in SIUE has continued to grow and grow as I see the almost weekly advancements we make in both the academic and athletic realms.
Quite frankly, SIUE means a lot to me--it's been through my connection to this university that I met my husband, SJ (a 2002 alum), that I'm currently in the workforce, and that I was able to perfect my imitation of a wild cougar. All, to me, are priceless. I'm honored to be a part of the planning of your 2009 Homecoming celebration, and I look forward to seeing you there.
